About

Clément Barthes

I obtained my PhD in Mechanics of Structures at UC Berkeley in 2012. My thesis was on the development of a finite element with non-linear kinematics, representing rocking behavior. I then became an R&D lab manager at UC Berkeley for 5 years. This is when I developed expertise in signal processing and control of systems. Today I work for Safehub as Chief Technology Officer. I have developed a self-installed earthquake sensor capable of determining structural health in real time. I like to program fancy numerical methods and DSP algorithms. I like it even more when it needs to run on a tiny micro-controller. I believe computer vision is the future of experimental measurements, and I always love to see Optecal being used in very creative ways. I live in Berkeley, California. I love biking on the road and on the trails. If you would like to connect, feel free to reach out to me via my LinkedIn profile.
